...within just three months of buying this kettle the off button stopped working so like the other poor reviewer here I constantly end up with a sauna in the kitchen. The steam leaks badly out at the plastic joints along the handle and I've received a couple of burns from trying to pick up the kettle after it's overheated. This kettle is dangerous - don't buy it!

This kettle has 2 faults
sometimes the switch does not turn itself off and you end up with a sauna
At the bottom of the handle is a silver rim - this leaks ever so slighty

This kettle is dangerous and should be withdrawn. The exact same thing happened to us. Within about 3 months the off button stopped working and steam poured out everywhere. My wife burnt her hand while trying to pick it up. Steam escapes through the seam of the handle making it dangerous to pick up.
Also the miniscule amount of plastic used to hold the lid hinge on means that it also only lasted a couple of months before it snapped.

After having negotiated a particularly indifferent customer service at Russell Hobbs I eventualy made contact with their technical investigations officer who had the kettle back and told me the timer switch was faulty. A new kettle ( different style ) was dispatched to me......so full marks for RH for their concern and eventual replacement of goods.
It pays to complain.
Also the miniscule amount of plastic used to hold the lid hinge on means that it also only lasted a couple of months before it snapped.

GOOD CHOICE
It boils quickly and quietly, holds enough water to make eight drinks, is easy to fill and is nicely balanced for pouring.

Attractive and practical design
I like the fact that you can clearly see when the kettle is on. So far it seems to be fit for the job. We particularly chose it because it is quiet.
