Most excellent book 10 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
These classic short stories (on which the musical Guys and Dolls was loosely based) are set in the New York underworld of gangsters, gamblers and petty criminals in the 1920s and 1930s. Written entirely in witty New York slang, the book is hilarious, charming and touching throughout.

I recommend it to absolutely anyone. (I first came across a dusty copy of this book as a child, and recently bought it from Amazon and re-read it aged 31. It was excellent both times.)

This is a book all should read. I laugh out loud every page and have read it several times without tiring of it.
