Michael Morpurgo proves once again what a superb writer he is by weaving together current issues with a compelling situation concerning a young boy left running wild in Indonesia. The result is unexpected, emotional but above all thrilling and real. A fantastic read for young and old alike.

This book should not be confined to the chidren's book section. All ages in our family have read it from 91-year-old great-granny downwards. It is exciting, moving and deals with real life problems. Death, loss, fear are all there, plus the uplifting relationship between a boy and an elephant which is totally believable. A wonderful story for everyone. If you can't think of anyone to buy it for, buy it for yourself.

This book is so good! I got really into it and couldnt put it down (even though iv'e never really liked reading). A friend recomended it and he was absolutely right, I would reccommend it to anyone, especially if you like animals or adventure! It was the first book to move me to tears and I loved it! It was also really interesting, and I finished in a day because I couldnt stop reading it and was so sad when it finished! :( I'm going to read it again soon, definatly my favourite book, BUY IT PEOPLE!!!! :D
