Amazon.co.uk Review

In this action thriller based on an early story by Stephen King, Los Angeles in the year 2017 has become a police state in the wake of the global economy's total collapse. All forms of entertainment are government controlled, and the most popular show on television is an elaborate game show in which convicted criminals are given a chance to escape by running through a gauntlet of brutal killers known as "Stalkers." Anyone who survives is given their freedom and a condominium in Hawaii, so when a wrongly accused citizen (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is chosen as a contestant, all hell breaks loose. Cheesy sets and a slimy role for game-show host Richard Dawson make this violent mess of mayhem a candidate for guilty pleasure; it is the kind of movie that truly devoted Arnold fans will want to watch more than once. And check those credits--choreography by Paula Abdul! --Jeff Shannon

5.0 out of 5 stars Arnie at his jump-suit best!, 29 Jul 2003
By D. J. Burton (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This film boasts many superb features: Classic 80's soundtrack, quality hair-do's, fashion to be proud of, and of course - Arnie in one of his best performances. It's hard to go wrong!

Anyone buying this DVD should not be interested in acting quality, depth of plot, or political correctness. But I don't think anyone will be - and therefore this film delivers exactly what you want - action, witty one-liners, a feel good plot, some nostalgia even, suspense and just general no-nonsense entertainment in abundance. You can't go wrong if you buy this DVD cos it's Arnie in one of his best films, and that's saying something!

5.0 out of 5 stars Arnie's Greatest Film, 8 Jun 2004
By far his greatest work! The characters in this are superb, particularly Jessy 'The Body' Ventura as captain Freedom! This film also features even more classic quotables than Terminator!

"I live to see the day you eat that contract, but I hope you leave enough room for my fist, because I'm gonna ram it into your stomach and break your God Dam spine!!!! Arrrrrgh!!!"

Go and buy it and watch it again and again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Do i love the running man, YESSSSS!, 2 Dec 2003
By Tom Godsmark (Leicester) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
What a film. Arnie is outstanding as the infamous Ben Richards. The one liners are steaped as high as the eye can see. Starting with " You do, now i do" and "because i'm going to say pleeease!". This film is a work of art and should be bought by all people, it is fun for all the family. The guy from alien is also on form, especially with his dead pose, amazing. This is my personal favourite Arnie film and you can see why when you have listen to all the onliners, "YESSSSSSSS" "he had to spilt" "hey light head, christmas tree" "it's showtime" "that hit the spot" "i don't do request". It is a masterpiece and will always be a classic. Performances by Richard Dawson I (Killion) and Jesse Ventura (Capt. Freedom) compliment Arnie like a dream.

As my good friend James Davis would say "I'm a Commando"
