Product Description
The Ice Runner offers an easy-to-use, reliable, lightweight ice gripper for shoes and boots. Importantly, the Ice Runner is a studded ice gripper offering superior traction on snow and ice compared to non-studded models which are effective on snow. It's rare for the UK to suffer with snow for more than a few days but we know that it's the weeks of subsequent ice which represents the main problem to pedestrians during the winter season. The Ice Runner offers a snug fit around the footwear with the rubber needing to be stretched around the footwear to achieve a safe and comfortable fit. The Ice Runner is suitable for pedestrians, businesspeople, keen walkers or joggers, athletes and anyone else who wants greater stability on ice and snow. The elderly and people with limited strength in their arms should consider other ice gripper models by Springyard such as Wintergrip or Icey Heel. Both of these are heel models with an easy to attach function. The Ice Runner by Springyard has been type examined and EEC approved: Protective Equipment Class 1 - Excellent Anti-Slip effect.

We chose these ones, as they looked the most obviously sensible, in conjunction with the EU rating. They arrived very quickly, which was good, as it's already sleet, hail and snow out there.
They slip and off your shoe very easily, just like pushing a large rubber band down and over the heel. Slightly tricky first time, but not difficult. The metal studs are much deeper and sharper than they look on the photo. No walking across linoleum in them.
It's a bit odd at first, like walking on football studs. But the positioning under the ball of the foot, and the heel, clearly works. I've just used them as I snow shovelled clear our drive and steps. With the ice and snow in a sludge around me. I felt so secure, I kept thinking "I mustn't need these ice grips!"
I'm truly no longer worried about breaking a leg, and they are very light and easily stuffed in a pocket when you get to the shops. Cannot recommend them more highly!

I bought these for my dad to stop him slipping in the icy weather because he refuses to stay indoors (parents can be so frustrating...)
The Ice Runners are very good quality in comparison with some of the other different makes that we bought to try. They fit snugly on his boots and didn't slip off. He's a size 9 shoe and I bought the large size.
He's only had to use them once since we didn't receive them until after the worst of the weather. He said he had to walk on the grass instead of the pavement because the black ice wasn't deep enough for the studs to grip into but he feels sure they will be excellent in snow or compacted ice.

I have used these to pull a sled with two boys along an icy road (where I just fell over without them), and also today for a 10K run in the park in snow/ice. They work really well and give you confidence on icy surfaces. They take a minute to put on as you have to really stretch them, but they are really quick to pop off when you get to the tarmac (which you will need to do, else you will wear them out)
Worth the money to stop worrying about falling over and hurting yourself in icy conditions.
