All Zaine had to do was reach out a hand and he could take it. Sweat broke out on his forehead as he battled the desire to take the book. If he took it, his fate would be sealed. He didn’t want to be a runeweaver – but he did want to touch the book. He wanted it so badly that he found his hand stretching out to it even as his mind screamed not to…

The search is on for a new king or queen. The search is also on for runeweavers who can help contenders penetrate the Circle of Dreams and win the throne.
Zaine couldn’t have chosen a more perilous time to discover his fate. For runeweavers must take centre stage in the battle for the new monarch. He is destined to play a unique and dangerous role – to fulfil a prophecy that could spell great danger, and even death, for young Zaine.

About the Author

Linda McNabb was born in England, but has lived in New Zealand since she was four years old. A natural storyteller who loves inventing characters and worlds for them to live in, Linda lives in Auckland with her husband and two daughters, and the rest of the time in the rich, fertile land of her imagination. Her first novel The Dragon's Apprentice, was a finalist in the Junior Ficion Category for the New Zealand Post Children's Book Awards in 2003. Circle of Dreams Timeweaver is Linda's third title with Scholastic. The idea for Circle of Dreams came to her one day when she was looking at an old leather-bound book in a second-hand shop and it seemed to have a character all of its own. She began to wonder 'what if' and 'maybe' as all writers do. The rest followed from there. Linda writes mostly children's fantasy but has, in the past, dabbled in adult book. None have been published yet. Her major influence in writing for children came when she was reading 'The Wednesday Wizard' by Sheryl Jordan. It was written in a style that she admired and has since aimed to achieve. Linda's books do not deal with the 'serious' issue of life as so many books today do. Fantasy is all about visiting a different place for a while and she doesn not include any war, politics or religion in any of her children's stories. Her books do not aim to teach, preach or advise - they are the books you read for the pure pleasure of reading. Although her books are aimed at the 8-12 year old reading group, they can be enjoyed by older readers who enjoy an uncomplicated fantasy that will export them to somewhere new for a while.

Fun children's book 1 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
An interesting story. The characters are shallowly drawn, but the princess and mage team with a contest to win should appeal to younger children.

Runeweaver 3 Mar 2012

Not a book that I would recommend to adults. Probably good for pre-teen kids. I just could not get into it at all, although I did read the whole thing.

kindle Edition: Good story. 17 Dec 2011
By G.Gill - Published on Amazon.com

This was a good edition. I did not notice any format errors.

The story was very good. I did notice the usual "smart kid underestimated by adults" line but it was twisty enough not to get in the way. Checking out the 2nd book in the series now. I hope it flows as well as the first book.
