I really enjoyed reading this book. I hadn't heard of Maureen Child before; turns out that this was her debut novel. Well written, fast paced and fun, this was a great read.
Magaret, a plain bespecticled woman, only daughter of a self-made financial wizard in San Fransisco, runs away from home after her father pays for a man to marry her. On her first outing, her stagecoach is robbed and she makes barely makes it away alive. Lucky for her, handsome Cheyenne Boder is on her trail and helps save her from certain death. On their way to the nearest town, love starts to happen. Unfortunately, Cheyenne is not exactly forthcoming about why he is following Maggie. This leads to a lot of fun, with areas for both characters to grow- Maggie becoming an independant woman, and Cheyenne respecting himself enough to be worth Maggie's love.
This is a great romp through the wild west. I am going to search to see if there is a second novel about a side character (Ritter Sloane, a gunslinger). All the characters are so well written.
