El-P and Killer Mike individually are both fantastic and no surprise this album is. To me it's the true essence of Hip Hop, lyrical wizardry and some great beat production by El-P that occasionally sounds old School east coast style, El-P does more than deliver beats his flow and wordplay is equally good... Killer Mike delivers some great Southern accented (that'd be South US, obviously) rhymes whilst El-P has a New Yorker accent and they both seem to bounce off each other seamlessly and it makes for fresh introspective.

Recommended if you like pure Hip hop all about  the rhymes and music, no women/money crap delivered.

After teaming up on killer mikes most excellent 2012 album R.A.P. music, produced and guested on by EL-P, the duo decided to team up again and have a crack at a full length album together.
To anyone who was a fan of ' R.A.P. music' or EL's 'cancer4cure' will find themselves in familiar territory with this record. Mikes trademark southeren drawl, laced with wit, hidden barbs and insight on top of EL's dystopian, hellish, futuristic beats.
El raps a hell of a lot on this record too, taking the lead on many songs and doing a damn fine job of it. Arguably does some of the best vocals he's done on any of his previous records to date, while killer mike, the more accomplished rapper overall you would say, seems happier to notch it down a little and let his buddy hit the big lines. Big boi from outcast makes a guest appearance on the track 'bannana clipper'.
Its an aggresive, hard rap album. A synth, big beat driven nightmare. Not as tunefull as 'R.A.P.' music but just as expertly crafted by a duo who are the perfect for one another. Think of a post apocalyptic eric b and rakim.
Originally released as a free mp3 download via foolsgold records back in summer its now avaliable to buy on cd if you missed the mp3 or, like me, stuck in the past and still like having actual cds.

This will probably pass most people by much like last year's amazing R.A.P. Music from Killer Mike, but it shouldn't because it is just fantastic. This unlikely pairing of two wildly different artists from opposite ends of the hip hop spectrum makes for a bombastic, edgy, deeply accomplished combination. El-P's production a bass heavy, dark, intricate, sci-fi tinged funk assault; when the 808 kicks in on the title track it is truly spine tinglingly exciting stuff, simultaneously classic and starkly original. Lyrically, I've been a fan of El-P since Company Flow; his misanthropic, dystopian imagery can be stark and difficult but is laced with wicked humour and delivered in his unique, groundbreaking style. I was late to the Killer Mike party, but there cannot be many more charismatic emcees; he is like the twisted offspring of a young Chuck D and classic Ice Cube, bombastic, intelligent, aggressive, funny...just love the guy. The pairing works so well, the two complimenting each perfectly.

This is a great album/mixtape, buy it.

The beat breaks and your teeth break... 11 Sept. 2013
By Michael Ford - Published on Amazon.com
Let me just start by saying that I don't like to throw around the term "best album of the year" haphazardly like so many other reviewers like to. I listen to a lot of really good hip hop, and an album has to absolutely kick my ass cover to cover before it even comes close to earning that title. With that being said, this is hands down the best hip hop album of 2013. The second this album dropped, I have been unable to release it from my grasp, much like the demonic zombie hand clutching the 36" Chain on the album cover. This album is absolutely brilliant, from the second the beat winds up on the opening title track to the stunning final pumps of the bass line on Christmas Miracle. With so many artists attempting to stay relevant by trying to create new sounds and cutting edge rhymes, EL and Mike seem to just laugh it off, and effortlessly continue to do what they do best; what they have always done their entire careers. Blistering beats. Dope rhymes. The absolute definition of hip hop music. But just beware, Run the Jewels is not for your children...

This album in my mind is best hip hop album of 2013...innovative, progressive and raw. The beats are super original and the MC-ing is relentless.
