Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

German film Run Lola Run has been compared to a 70-minute rock video: non-stop action and music, and (for better or worse) not a whole lot of plot. But the premise works, as does the film's high-energy techno soundtrack. Most of the tunes on this disc are credited to the trio of Tykwer/Klimek/Heil--the threesome of film director Tom Tykwer, techno producer John Klimek, and Rynhold Heil (best known as the producer of German pop import 99 Luftballons by Nena). Included are several remixes of the movie's main themes, the bass-heavy "Rock Me" by Pills, and "Wish", featuring the vocals of Franka Potente (Lola herself). There are a ton of soundtracks that have employed dance music, but few work as successfully as Run Lola Run. There's a cohesiveness to this dark and furious mix of beats that your typical compilation just can't muster. --Jason Verlinde

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth 5 stars for "running 3" 24 Oct 2003
Format:Audio CD
I saw the film recently and was inspired by the sheer intensity of the film - the whole thing seemed constantly more on edge than Luc Besson's "Nikita" ever achieved. And that's saying a lot. However the soundtrack, when I listened to it, really played a huge part in that. "Running 1" is a brilliant ambient techno piece, maybe a bit harsh at times. "Running 2" is kid of more mainstream. "Running 3", once the the drum line kicks in, has this incredible sense of anticipation and ... determination ... that is absolutely beautiful in the film, but sounds _right_ in the soundtrack.
I thought the film was one of the most intence films I've ever seen, and this is a soundtrack that I'm happy to say matches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and Full of Energy 13 May 2000
By Andrew Kaiser - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I am not going to lie and say this CD is for everyone. Some people simply cannot appreciate the repetitive nature of techno music. If you are a techno fan and you enjoyed the movie then this soundtrack is certainly worth buying. Many of the tracks are very powerful and make you want to get up and move. Franka Potente has a beautiful voice and her tone matches perfectly with the fast paced drums and bass.
I really enjoy the way this soundtrack features all the music from the movie along with extra remixes. I felt like I got my moneys worth from this CD and highly recomend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I was a hunter, in search of different food... 21 Feb 2000
By Duncan Thomson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I love it! It's playing in my computer's CD player as I write these words. Others have called it repetive. Well, it *is* techno, isn't it? Repetition of a theme, with new sounds and twists and beats injected, is what techno is all about, for me anyway. This one carries it off perfectly. It's gone around a few times already, and will go around a few more before I give it a break.
One thing that the tracks on this CD carry off perfectly is the integration of vocals with the techno sound. While many techno artists seem to think that voices have to be distorted beyond recognition to fit in to techno, in this case the lyrics come through clearly. This is especially true with Franka Potente's contributions on the first track "Believe" which is worth buying the CD for just on its own.
By the way, if you haven't seen the movie, I recommend it - it's now out on video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! 28 Aug 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I recently saw the film Run Lola Run and thought it rocked -- and I came online and bought the CD the same day. But I didn't get my hopes up too much, because I've been dissapointed way too many times by movie soundtracks. Well, the CD came in the mail today and it is just too cool for words. The tracks are so rich with sound -- don't expect any thin generic techno beats here. I can't get myself to stop playing it! If you haven't seen the movie yet, go see it -- and then order this CD. The music pulses and drives you -- I've been trying to make a good running tape for a while now and if this music doesn't help me improve my time then I don't know what will.

4.0 out of 5 stars "I don't believe reality would be the way it should... 1 April 2004

But I believe in fantasy if you just understood..."
Wow. I first heard the music from this soundtrack when I downloaded a legendary Anime Music Video made for it's first track, Believe. The video was fantastic, but the song was what fueled it. Believe is an incredibly inspirational song about not giving up and believing in yourself, and I can't count how many times I've listened to it (the part at the end is just transcendant (you know, like when you're running so hard and so long that you don't even feel the pain anymore)). Later on I downloaded Music Videos to two of the other songs (Running Two and Running Two Remix). I enjoyed the videos and the music so much I decided that I had to own the soundtrack.
From what I understand, only the first 7 tracks are actually from the movie. That's probably the only reason I could give this awesome soundtrack less than five stars. The first seven tracks are all great. Believe is awesome, the introduction is the music I used to listen to while getting ready for work every morning (the ultimate wake-up music), Running One gets the blood pumping, Running Two puts you into overdrive (and whenever I'm REALLY tired I hear the words echoing in my head "Never never never never letting go, never giving up, never saying no. Just go go never stop and never think, just do do do do the right thing"!), Running Three is the big finale, and Casino is a great drum piece sure to keep you moving. The other tracks are kind of hit and miss.
Many of the remixes lack the polish of the music from the movie (and one even features a spine-rippling scream and breaking glass at it's start). I did enjoy the Supermarket Remix, the Running Two Remix, and the last track, Rock Me.
Overall I consider this to be an essential purchase if you like German Techno, Techno in General, or this movie's music. It's worth buying for the first 7 tracks for sure. The rest is just extras.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1, 2, 3, all together now! 21 May 2001
By Mark Lee - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I wish I was a hunter in search of different food..../I wish I was the animal which fits into that mood..../I wish I was a person with unlimited breath..../I wish I was a heartbeat that never comes to rest!
I wish I was a stranger who wanders down the sky..../I wish I was a starship with silence flying by..../I wish I was a princess with armies at her hand..../I wish I was a ruler who'd make them understand!
I wish I was a rider who sees what's yet unseen..../I wish I was a prayer expressing what I mean..../I wish I was a forest of trees that do not hide..../I wish I was a clearing, no secrets left inside!
Those are the (English) lyrics to the song "Wish". After I saw the FANTASTIC movie "Run Lola Run", I knew I had to get its soundtrack. I was pretty much dancing to the background music in my seat while I was watching the film! It is really impossible to sit still while listening to this soundtrack. I especially love the introduction, "Wish", "Believe", and "Supermarket". If you like loud, fast, pulsating techno music, you MUST get this CD. And if you have seen "Run Lola Run" and you don't have the soundtrack yet, you're probably just waiting for Amazon.com to deliver it!
One minor warning: The second half of the soundtrack is mostly made up of remixes of the songs of the first half. So if for some reason you don't like the first half of the soundtrack, you won't like the second.
