Run, run as fast as you can through the village and across the river to safety. This exciting, award winning game is suitable for 2 to 4 players aged 4 and over, and involves a certain amount of strategy. Each player starts by assembling a jigged gingerbread man, and placing their colour-matched gingerbread man playing piece in the bakery ready to start the game. The other 'chaser' character playing pieces (the baker, cow and horse) are placed in position on the board. The first player throws both dice; the brown die determines how many spaces they can move their player piece towards the river, while the red die determines how many spaces they can move any of the chaser characters towards other players' playing pieces. Players need to avoid the chaser characters while trying to move them towards the other playing pieces. If a chaser lands on the same square as someone's playing piece, that player loses a piece of his jigged gingerbread man. They can get the piece back if they later land on a bowl square; if they lose all their gingerbread man pieces, they must return to the bakery at the start to be made whole again. If a player reaches the river and has their jigged gingerbread man intact, they can try to cross the river by spinning the spinner. As long as the spinner does not point to a fox, they can cross the river to the safety of the gingerbread house to win the game. Made with durable recycled board, this game will be a long-lasting favourite while helping children with maths skills.

Yet another great game from orchard. The idea is to get your gingerbread man board piece across the river, escaping the horse, cow and chef that are chasing you to take a nibble.
Off board each player has a jigsaw gingerbred man, made up of four pieces. There are two dice to throw each turn, one to move your on board gingerbread man, one to move any of the pieces that eat the gingerbread men. So you can chase and nibble other players. Every time your on board man is nibbled, you have to remove piece from your jigsaw man. You must have a complete jigsaw man to cross the river.
The river involves spinning a dial, getting either cross the water or fox. You do not move if you get a fox. The first player to cross the river wins.
Really good fun, well thought out, involving tactics, different game play and multi tasking on the game board. Would recommend for ages 4-12. Good quality board and pieces as always from Orchard.

I bought this for my boy (nearly 4), he loves the gingerbread man story.
I love that the board has to be puzzled (7 large pieces) and I love the durability of orchard toys game pieces.
The game is played with two dice - one to bring your own figure forward, one to move the chasers. You loose one of your 4 gingerbread man pieces when one of the chasers catch you - then you have to try and get the piece back by landing on a dough bowl. You need all 4 pieces before you can cross the river to safety.
It can be quite a short game (good for the short attention span of a 4 year old).
It's great to play for adults too.

This is our favourite game. My 3 yr old son loves it and has quickly got to grips with the strategy of "eating Mummy's gingerbread man" ! Would recommend to anyone. Game doesn't last too long either so good for those with shorter attention span !
