A very useful book. 24 July 2009
Format:Paperback
This book has been extremely useful to me, I have used it to learn the rules I need to know when being race officer at my local club. It gives easy to understand diagrams with good explanations to back it up. At the end of the book it gives detailed references on each flag and when to use them, which is very useful as I often find this very hard to remember. The product came within the delivery time and in perfect condition with good packaging protecting it. Overall I give this 5 star as it is a very useful book with good diagrams to explain all rules and all relevant information

This book is updated every 4 years in line with the updates to the racing rules. I have purchased 2 or 3 editions and this one is the best yet. For most of us the rules are very dry. This book brings the rules to life by taking us around the race course, creating the situations we are likely to encounter, explaining the rights and obligations of all the boats concerned, and the rules which apply. From club level racing and up this is an extremely valuable tool.

Having read this book cover to cover within 3 days, I'm very impressed. I know the rules, my wife now knows the rules (although she didn't want to but I wouldn't stop talking) and the rest of my team now know the rules. This should make us very competitive. However, we sail in Italy and the other teams we race against sail like they play football (ie, they bend the rules, then ignore them and finally, they cheat!). Even if this was published in Italian, they would never read this book because it has 'Rules' in the title. For the Brits, I would recommend it and there are also lots of pretty pictures which my 2 children like.
