Deceptively simple, or simply profound. . , 23 Dec 2010
By Mary Ann - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
When I started this book, I was not sure if it was too obvious to be useful, or profoundly barebones. Well, each reader will have to decide that for himself, but I am going to vote for the profound. The two-page commentary for each "rule" was thoughtful, down-to-earth, and tongue-in-cheek enough to keep from being self-righteous. This volume has a place on the reading list for anyone from the young person who is just finding his/her way through the warning-cones of life, to the person with enough experience to appreciate the succinctness of an elder's wisdom. I enjoyed it myself, and can recommend it as a gift, too.

After this review I will commence with Rule 79... 22 Dec 2010
By Maria Poole - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Buy this book for graduates, buy it for your kids, or buy it for yourself if only for Rule 79..."Keep Quiet". In life it is just as important to know when to speak as when not to. There are so many times that I wish I had this rule inked on my hand. You too? You are not alone my friend and Rule 4 is for you, "Accept Yourself". Simple? Yes, these are not overly complicated rules but neither were multiplication tables and that took some memorizing for some of us. The book is divided into four parts with rules for yourself, partnerships, family and friends, and social rules. Definately a good book to read before holiday socializing for necessity and/or pleasure because it would be ashame to get older but not necessarily wiser. (See Rule 2 if you fear this happening to you.)

A Collection of Cliches with Tedious Descriptions 21 Feb 2011
By TW - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
The Rules of Life is a collection of 106 guidelines for living a happy and fulfilling life. Each guideline is complete with a 1-2 page explanation describing and emphasizing each point. The bulk of the book is merely a collection of common cliches bundled together. Most of the rules are depicted from Templar's life which on their own are valuable yet require wading through far too many of his personal narratives that tend to range from the unnecessary to the downright boring. With the abundance of self help books available you will be well served passing on this book in search of one with better content and more original ideas.
