'The book's a cracker, a beaut!'
--Murray Deaker, Newstalk ZB

Product Description

Ever been at a rugby match and not known what to yell out when? Here's the answer to your prayers: RUGBY SPEAK. A book you can pop in your pocket along with your hip flask and pull out should you feel the need to yell out appropriate abuse from the terraces. There aren't many rules when it comes to grammatically correct rugby terms but Justin Brown has come up with the essentials if you intend to sound at least a tad informed. Chapters include: What to yell at the ref, What to yell at the players, Things which sound rude but aren't, and Things women shouldn't say. Rugby Speak is chock-full of wry observations and hilarious sideline comments. Perfect for bluffers who want to appear educated, this will also be a great gift for the rugby fanatic.

This is a great wee book. Cram packed with obscenities to yell at players and referees. 'Did you get a whistle for xmas ref?' 'Where's your guide dog?' 'That was a knock on you bi-focalled b*)$tard!' I love the chapter Things which sound rude but aren't, and the old man in the stand who has been to every game since 1914. Even the wife loves this book! Especially the chapter - Things Women shoudlnt' say - 'I love their short shorts' and 'What colour are we again?' Very funny.

Have just finished reading Cricket Speak by the same author which was brilliant so I ordered this up straight away. This is just as good and a must read for any rugby fan. I must congratulate Justin Brown for making both books readable to all levels of knowledge, my girlfriend (who knows very little of anything rugby) read Rugby Speak and I could hear her chuckling away in the next room... a very entertaining and funny read!

Rugby now spoken 22 April 2012

At last! A book that interprets the finer points of our national game. Particularly useful when trying to explain it to someone who's country is more about a round football, and the only oval ones are eggs at Easter
