One of the Best 3 Aug 2007
By Steve UK VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
This is one of the best funk albums in my opinion. Chaka Khan was always at her best in this band, tending to go over the top too often as a soloist. The band is spot on and the recording still sounds fresh all these years later. It shows up the shallow cretins who attempt to perform this type of music against a background of pre-programmed music. In contrast, enjoy Tony Maiden's brilliant guitar playing and singing and the stockong arrangements. Not a duff track on the album. Get this and listen to the real stuff.

Return to Bliss 27 Feb 2012
Format:Audio CD
I'm fast approaching my sixth decade on this planet and as a consequence I've been subjected to an ever increasing body of mediocrity, be it in, alas and sadly music or other.
This album was and never will be anything other than brilliant and even after all these years is still a comprehensively stand out piece of work. I still own the original vinyl copy and occasionally play it, cracks, hisses and all on the turntable. Wonderful to be re-acquainted with it in CD enhanced format. "Please Pardon Me" amongst some of the gems to be discovered if you're new to this work, or to relish once more if like me, you were here first time around. Enjoy.

THE REAL DEAL 19 Nov 2010
Format:Audio CD
Having worn out my original vinyl copy of this album, a CD copy made sense.

The young Chaka Khan is simply vocally outstanding on this album.
And the band?
Just sheer perfection.
Funky and yet subtle, this is soul/funk at it's very, very best.

Not a duff nano second on this album.
But the last 2 tracks still knock my socks clean off.
Please pardon me & Stop on by, are just spine tingling.

Chaka Khan went on to solo stardom.
But with this band behind her, this is possibly her finest hour.
A great, great album and what a band!!!!
