Amazon.co.uk Review

Diamante loves fairy stories, and Cinderella is a particular favourite and she so longs to be the magical fairy godmother who can change things at the touch of her wand. But how on earth could she change one thing into something completely different? Enter poor old Ruff the dog, who becomes a guinea pig in Diamante's experiment...

Rufferella is a hilarious reworking of the classic Cinderella story we all know and love, combining witty text and deliciously girlie illustrations which together turn what could so easily have been a rather average picture book into something very special indeed.

Children will love Diamante's antics with her poor, long-suffering pooch, and parents are certain to enjoy reading along with every moment of this unusual and totally captivating story. (Ages 4 and over) --Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Diamante's favourite book is CINDERELLA because she would like to be like the fairy godmother and turn things into other things! So she decides that she will start with her dog, Ruff and turn her into a human! And Ruff learns quickly - she learns to eat daintily, how to hold a cup and saucer and cross her legs. And as a human, Rufferella become famous for having the most wonderful singing voice, which soon brings her to the attention of the Queen who demands a royal performance. When the big night comes Rufferella just can't resist the temptation of sausages and her true nature wins out! Poor Rufferella, will this mean terrible shame - or perhaps a dog should be a dog! A wonderful and witty reinterpretation of the classic fairy-tale brought right up to date for contemporary children.

Rufferella īs just an ordinary pooch until her owner, a young girl with aspirations and a willing muse, decides that Rufferella has star potential. She then sets about training Rufferella to become a ballerina extraordinaire. Rufferella excels and receives an invite to perform in front of the Queen. Whether it's the pressure or her innate self, Rufferella can maintain the pretence no more, as her tutu slips, she reverts to the dog she has really always been. A lovely story about the importance of being who you really are. Witty and beautifully illustrated, a must for bookshelves everywhere.

Rufferella! 8 Jun 2005
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I the book Rufferella by Vaness Gill Brown and illustrated by Mandy Stanley. This book is about a dog named Ruff and her owner. Her owner asked Ruff if she wanted to be a girl.Ruff didn't like being a human much, but her owner,Diamante, taught her to be one. There were four lessons:clothes, makeup, hair style, and table manners and Diamante changed her dogs name into Rufferella and Diamante was invited to her friends birthday party and she brought her dog to.When they got there Rufferella was nervous but she played, danced, and ate and drinker and sang happy birthday to penny and Rufferella was on t.v. to.Rufferella had lots of mail and the queen wrote a letter to Rufferella saying that she and a guest can attend at the ball at the palace and when it was time to eat at the palace they had sausages and when Rufferella saw the sausages on the queen's plate then Rufferella jumped on the Queens plate and then they saw the tail and they knew that it was a dog and then after Rufferella and Diamante ran out of the palace. Yes I liked the book because it has really good illustrations. I liked the characters: Rufferella and Diamante because they are funny and awesome. I liked the illustrations because they were beautiful and detailed. I liked the word choice because it is good and easy. The conflict is person vs herself. The theme and message is what comes around goes around. In other versions of the story there is a wand, in this book there isn't. People who should read this book are children.
