'Alan Bennett with his pants down - brilliantly funny' (Julie Burchill )

"Fountain makes dirty Britain 2008 sound disarmingly funny, because he's disarmingly funny... he's got a brilliant ear for a certain kind of dialogue" (Peter York INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY )

"Fountain is a funny man. He's got a playwright's ear for speech so there are plenty of laughs in the book" (Claire Black SCOTSMAN MAGAZINE )

"This is a further journey for this sexual... erm... athlete as he looks to see if he, and Britain, are depraved.." (BENT )

"This very funny book will certainly broaden your mind" (Gaydarnation.com )

What a treat! I was actually bought this book as a joke present but was delighted to discover that this was not a sleazy look at british deviants but in fact a thrilling journey around the UK that just happens to be a bit sexy. it is full of unexpected people and places but it is a much cheekier- "kiss me quick" britain than i was expecting . what Fountain does best is talk about himself, which is rather a good job as the book acts as both guide and autobiography. he is a likable author though sometimes a little shocking. what is nice, however, is that he too is shocked by some of the people he comes across and some of the locations he comes across them. all in all i thoroughly enjoyed the book and will continue to recommend it-even to my most prudish friends.

Rude Britannia 24 July 2008
Format:Paperback
I bought the book as holiday reading material and it proved perfect for the job. Not at all sleazy but a great account of a very funny, interesting and suprising journey around Britain. Mr Fountain clearly enjoyed the research and writes about it with a great sense of humour. My girlfriend tutted when she read the back cover but then read the book herself and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Highly recommended 25 July 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a funny, honest and ultimately thought provoking examination of us Brits and our eccentric attitudes towards sex. I loved it and will remember some of the people and places that Tim Fountain encountered on his travels for years to come. Highly recommended.
