Product Description

This heavy duty 65 liters rucksack is a low-cost variant of the original Bundeswehr combat backpack and features 6 separate compartments. That includes 2 fixed side pockets with storm protection flaps closed with adjustable straps, 1 main top loading compartment with flap and snow collar, closed with 2 quick release buckles, a map pocket on the top of the flap, closed with an adjustable strap, and a zip up pocket accessible from above the carrying handle. There is also separate zip pocket located at the bottom of the backpack. There is an aluminium rod through the top of the rucksack for stability over the shoulders and an internal pocket for the insertion of a folding mattress that can provide stability for the back of the rucksack (mattress not included). Rucksack opening and size is adjustable by means of four fastex clips: two to close the top-down flap, and two to compress or reinforce the bottom of the rucksack. The rucksack offers a great amount of carrying space and is perfect for military as well as camping and hiking.

GOOD. Pr ice - hard to beat!. There are plenty of ways to attach poles, axe, a few external mounting for sleeping bag and roll-mat etc. Buckles and clips are robust similar in gauge to some upmarket civilian packs. Material is shower-proof. There are loops and loop points but only on the chest straps. I bought olive drab version. One internal flat pocket in main bag might suit hydration-pack but no internal hook to hang it on. Good quality toggles on snow flap.

LIMITATIONS- Light "clothing quality" zips operate smoothly, but don't over-pack and strain them. Seam stitching is only single-run. I would not pack more than 10-15kg in overall load. Limited comfort & stability, no cross-brace chest-straps and limited strap padding. As expected no outer pack molle, no hip braces on the lower torso straps, No internal frame (has 1 pencil-like rod), no back pads or air-gap. Minor flaws noted inside in the sewing/ finish. Limited size side-pockets 20x5x10 = 1L. Buckles on pockets can be fiddly. Fully packed at the very widest points including side pockets it actually does average 32x64x15cm + two side pockets. Stuffed to over-capacity IMHO it takes approx (2 litres + 35x65x20cm= 47000cc or ) 47L max. The 65L spec is probably derived by taking the widest points of the wedge shape pack at the top so it's not an accurate representation and a bit naughty IMHO :)

To SUMMARIZE. Limitations but great value IF you don't intend to overload or take it far and wide- 5 star price and 4 star performance. GREAT VALUE. Good sense of humor calling it 65L :)
