Biography

Having recorded three albums in quick succession over the latter part of the noughties, the Kaiser Chiefs took a calculated gamble in 2009 - after playing one of their biggest shows to date at London’s Wembley Arena, they decided to regroup out of the spotlight with a now well documented self-imposed hiatus.

The rethink and withdrawal from the public eye led various members to ... Read more in Amazon's Kaiser Chiefs Store

5.0 out of 5 stars KAISERS ARE BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!!!! 3 Feb 2008
Format:Audio CD
This track ruby is very mature sounding from the lads and very good too,and with the guitar in between it goes very well, and the way this track flows you can just keep playing it on and on,and it never gets old sounding. And it topped the chart last year and smashed all the other rubbish away which was great thats for sure, lets hope they keep this up.BUT YOU NEVER WILL BEAT THIS TRACK BY THEM AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous but hideously over exposed 19 Feb 2007

It's as infectious as a "bootiful" turkey, as catchy as Paul Collingwoods hands, as enjoyable as a night in with Paris Hilton and a bottle of baby oil( excluding conversation of course).Yes it the new single from The Kaiser Chiefs and its a terrific slice of the usual abrasive pop wonderment. Yet even now, just one day after its release I am heartily sick to death of it.

It's on every radio show every day. I am guaranteed to hear it at least four times a day and that's with one hour's dinner and numerous toilet breaks. . That's pushing it in my opinion .....the song that is ,not the toilet breaks...I have a kidney problem. I wouldn't want to hear "Unfinished Sympathy "four times a day and I absolutely adore that song. Of course it's not the bands fault. They have written a very good spiky pop song in the same way they did for virtually every song on "Employment", though this time it's noticeable the edges are a little smoother the sound a tad more refined and salubrious, and of course that's what we all loved them for in the first place.

In a way the songs instant catchiness is it's greatest problem, it insinuates itself with such alacrity that it's shelf life was always likely to be short lived and anyone who expects the band to move their sound forward like for instance Radiohead do is going to be more disappointed than someone attending an anti fascist rally and finding Jade Goody is the main speaker.

The chorus is a terrace anthem showered with glitter from the backs of giant silver unicorns, the harmonies are poured like liquid alabaster from gleaming titanium urns hoisted by a dozen Danni Minouge look-alikes with only strands of red liquorice to preserve their modesty. In other words it's a great pop song.

Not only did mans journey into space peak between 1969 and 1972 during which the 12 (only what ? 8 left alive) men who walked on the moon did their stuff : music also peaked during those years. The rest is just winding down and fiddling about. 15 2 hours ago
