Even though Rubinstein showed great affection for Schubert, Rubinsteinfs recordings of Schubertfs compositions are limited compared to Chopin, Brahms or Beethoven. However, here in this CD, he proves his great understanding and love towards these most loved compositions of Schubert. The recording of his Schubertfs Wanderer Fantasy can be stated that it is one of the finest recordings of the work, where his eRubinstein tonef is most adequate for this composition. His mature conception of Schubertfs D.960 is also breathtaking, while maintaining its simplicity and tension. Highly recommended.

The most brilliant interpretation of Schubert's Piano sonata D960 which I have ever heard and I already have quite a collection of this work and have been to concerts where it has been played.

When I first listened to these recordings, I could not believe piano could sound so beautiful and so warm! Without forcing, Rubinstein lets music unfold naturally just like a fragile flower. Slow sections of the sonata, for example, is just magical, played with such intricacy, affection and grace. Wanderer Fantasie and Impromptus are played with lavishingly rich tones and grace. You can hear a bit of Chopin in some phrasing and subtle rubato in the G flat major Imprompto played beautifully like no other pianists can. Who could make piano sing, breathe and sigh like this nowadays!
