People might think that a revival of 80's style music & culture is a bad thing & for the most part I'd tend to agree with them (apart from the fact that I grew up through the 80's). I've know qualms about paying homage to that era but a full scale revival would mean all the bad things that we're glad have gone away would come back to haunt us!
No such problems with this EP of obviously 80's influenced synth pop/disco. Authentic enough that it could have come straight out of that era & cool enough that it sounds fantastic despite it's questionable influence. Think Miami vice/Jan Hammer on ecstasy, Speeding along in your red Ferrari in The sega coin-up Out Run, Or maybe an EP written especially for the Vice City video game & you'll know exactly what this EP is all about.
On top of that the production is fantastic - Pumping beats, Fat & distorted analogue synths & even a thrashing 80's guitar solo! I recently heard the track 'Chrystal City' whilst at a bar in Brixton (The White house) & the place went mad! everyone was asking, 'What's this track?' & I was running round telling them! :-)
An Extremely cool & quirky but quality EP that puts a bit of much needed fun & energy back into dance music without turning it into a cheese fest!
