I think this is the best Rubbadubbers dvd so far.
One of the things that puts me off a bit is the frog's constant repetition of the word: "Swimmin". An annoying catchphrase, (or should that be catchword?) made even more so by the missing 'g' on the end. (Shouldn't the makers of children's programmes be aiding kids' education not worsening it?)!
Then there's the blue shark, Finbar, who looks great but is really such a tedious character. Finbar's "arrr arrr arrr" is annoying about as much as the "swim-min" is irritating, but thankfully you don't hear much of it on this dvd.
I don't know why the stories don't feature Amelia more. (The submarine). She only appears in the last two stories here and they are better for having her in them. Stories just about her adventures would be great. She could go whizzing round the rooftops of the world outside, before flying back in through the bathroom window; and a story told featuring her exploits. - In fact you are shown the houses outside at the beginning of each story and you might think this will feature somehow, but it doesn't, it is really just going into each character's fantasy world of "if only" and then they realise that actually things are probably better the way they are anyway, which I suppose is teaching that the grass isn't always greener. - This is a good message to give out, but it would be nice to see some stories featuring the characters in their real life setting of the bathroom as the imagery is really good when they are there and the opening credits are lovely to watch.
This series has the catchiest theme song ever, up there along with Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings, James the Cat, and Postman Pat themes. Once heard, you'll likely not be able to get it out of your head.
Worth getting for anyone who enjoyed previous Rubbadubbers, and also worth getting if you have never seen it before. The case with carrying handle is great too with it's nice colourful cover picture.
