I am absolutely appalled when i phoned the Direct Buying shop of Pomerion, who own Royal Worcester, Spode as well as Pomerion itself, to find that only the painting on the mugs is Made in England.
What has happened to the British National Pride where famous British Pottery Brand Names are now Made in China. It is disgusting but seems to be a world wide trend, all for the sake of saving a few quid.
There is one thing that is certain, all this Diamond Jubilee Memorabilia will be worth nothing to future generations and have always believed that items of National Pride or significance should be totally made in one's own country. There is the raw material and still the craftmanship, the latter of course will disappear if the country continues to do this sort of thing.
I have managed to find a mug totally Made in England and handpainted beautifully with a Brand Name i have never heard of, but at least i can hand down the item with pride to my grandchildren and in time to come it will be worth a lot to them not only monetary but showing the skills of England. Oh, by the way the cost was no more than the Royal Worcester rubbish.
