Very good book, buy it,

Royal Marines Fitness: Physical Training ManualI'm too old to be trying to join the Marines but I do like to keep fit. Over the years I have bought a number of Training Manuals and this is the first time I have been physically bothered to write a review. This book is excellent. If your looking to join the Marines or, like myself, are interested in the details of how fitness is incorporated into their work then this book is well worth buying. The real strength of this book, however, is that the Author is a Royal Marine PTI who is setting out, without any macho posturing, how to design your own fitness programme, whatever your requirements or fitness level. This is not a "10 weeks to being a Special Forces Ninja". It is an intelligent description of how to get fit, quickly, cheaply and practically. I fully recommend this book.

Great book for all round fitness,
By Dave the Pirate "Bootneck Nod" (Scotland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Royal Marines Fitness: Physical Training Manual (Hardcover)
A well written and well set out book, plenty of in depth explainations of the exercises, and lots of accompanying pictures to ensure that form is correct. There are loads of exercises to keep things from going stale, plus progressions/regressions depending on ability.I especially liked and learned from the fitness psychology section - a lot of interesting stuff in there. The nutrition section was far from comprehensive, but to be honest it would take another book to cover all aspects of that (try Nutrition for Athletes by Anita Bean), so what was there was useful. If you're wanting to try for the marines, or any forces, this is a great place to start. Highly recommended.
