Product Description

A jubilant collection celebrating a century of the House of Windsor.

Discover the stories that lie at the heart of a uniquely British institution with this incredible and comprehensive box set, spanning over a century and including 10 fascinating documentaries on Britain's cherished royal family.

Journey back to the birth of the House of Windsor with a documentary looking at the decision made by George V to change the family name forever; learn the truth about George VI, thrust into the international spotlight by the abdication of his elder brother, Edward; and examine the state of Britain in the early 1950s, as the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne and did her best to stabilise a nation still reeling from the effects of WWII.

Then, over six inspiring discs, chart the life of the Queen decade-by-decade as the full story of her glorious reign is brought to life.

There are so many documentaries on the Queen and the Royal Family out now, particularly after the Diamond Jubilee. A lot have commentaries by so-called "royal biographers" that are just full of the tabloid-type opinions of hack journalists who attempt to analyze the failings and foibles of a group of people they have gotten no closer to than this Canadian ever has. The "A Royal Family" collection gives me, and I'm sure, a lot of other people, the facts about our Monarch and her family, and avoids the sleazy practice of psycho-analyzing them to justify a lot of the garbage one finds in the tabloids and tabloid programming. If you want a concise and true picture of the Royal Family, and an enjoyable history of the Windsor dynasty, this would definitely be the set to choose.
