I was very lucky to attend the concert itself, and expected only Einaudi, a piano and perhaps a couple of sound effects technicians. The first CD (the first half) he is accompanied by 5 brilliant string musicians who also did a little percussion on stage. The second CD (the second half) Einaudi is accompanied again by the 5 brilliant string musicians, but further a 16 strong string orchestra. Whilst Einaudi varies only a little from his original work (as far as I can tell) the additional strength and accompaniment by the ensemble really makes for something very special. I would definitely (unlike La Scala, IMHO very poor in comparison as it is not different from his usual work) recommend this CD to anyone, even if you have all his music already. Also it is incredible how much Einaudi's music is played during today's terrestrial television, from Top Gear to Channel 4 dramas. Finally, can I apologise for the enthusiastic recorded clapping ?
