It is a misnomer to call this book a history of the RAF as many non flying activities are not inncluded e.g. the RAF regimemt,RAF control of ground forces-Aden Protectorate Levies and major maintainance bases such as Abyad and Fayid.
However the book deals very well with the myriad types of planes that have been in seervice since 1918 with excellent pictures and illustrations.
There is an aircraft index but no general index which defeats the purpose and objective of any book and makes its value suspect.

Although not a low cost book this really is a worthwhile investment for anyone interested in British military aircraft. Some truly remarkable pictures and excellent information. Even the enthusiast will find aircraft within these pages that had slipped the memory - an engrossing read.
