Format: Audio CD
Apparently, this band are the reason why Roxy Music added the 'Music' appendage to their name. They'd already released their one and only album when Ferry and his chums convened the band that would become Roxy Music. This album came out in 1970, and it is a pleasant enough record, and if you're already familiar with the idiosyncratoc talents of Bob Segarini, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this. Perhaps their big downfall was including the image of a clown on the album cover - clowns never work for me! The main Roxy protagonists, Bob Segarini and Randy Bishop, went on to form The Wackers not long after, and cut three pretty good albums for Elektra, well worth seeking out. Where The Wackers were a much more straightforward pop outfit, Roxy were more kind of rootsy and country flavoured. Their songs weren't greatly distinctive, apart from the fact that Segarini has a very recognisable vocal style, and never really got anywhere. I like this record, though, and although I won't play it every day, there's at least one day a year when only this will do.

Roxy is not Roxy Music. These guys rock! 9 April 2015

Rock And Roll Circus is one of my favorite performances. I saw these guys in concert at a little club called The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, and they amazed me with their skill. This album cuts a lot of the edge off, but there's still plenty there. Along the same vein as Spirit.

Gem from the early 70's 30 Jan. 2014
By Adam Holzman - Published on Amazon.com
The band "Roxy" (not to be confused with Roxy Music, which came later and was completely separate) was the forerunner to The Wackers. Bob Segarini was the mastermind (and great singer!) of both bands. A terrific though slightly uneven album by what might have been a classic band.
