Product Description

Product Description

The Rover P5 was the last great representative of traditional British luxury saloon building, with the emphasis firmly on quality rather than sportiness. Its spaciousness, refinement and wood and leather charm still command a considerable classic car following today.

About the Author

James Taylor has been a researcher and motoring historian since the late 1970s. The products of the Rover company have always been his first love and his major specialization. He has over forty books to his credit including seven titles in the Crowood AutoClassic series.

Strange though it may seem, a great deal about Rover's P5 luxury saloon can be attributed to the success of the company's utilitarian multi-purpose Land Rover. Read the first page

Taylors book wonderfully discribes the car's history, balancing carefully the philosophy behind the management decisions at the time, the actual car, the most important technical information along with practical advice. Even if you're not interested in buying the car, this book will almost certainly wet your appetite.

Allow me to add that I very much liked Taylor's dignified language which captures the subtle aura of the P5 incredibly well!

This book is strictly for the enthusiast - but in a good way. Fantastic technical detail but also some good anecdotes from participants the author has interviewed. The result is greater than the sum of its parts - offering those with a wider interest in industrial history a fascinating insight into a well-run and profitable business in the 1950s when the British car industry was at its height. My Mum & Dad like this book, as they have the car that its based on.

Its full of information and some pictures.

Nothing to compare it too, as there are no other books published on this car model I believe.

Still, for what it is, in its own right, Its nice.
