This Roughneck 65504 is a strong diamond-shaped wood splitting grenade, with a cross section that enables you to split the log in 4 directions. The wood splitting grenade has a spherical striking face to provide a centred and efficient blow. The splitter is notched to prevent it popping out from the log and has a sharp point for an easy start.
Roughneck advises to use the Roughneck 65504 Wood Grenade Splitting Wedge with a sledge hammer for greatest effect.

It looks the business but I still have yet to split a log into four using it. It only splits it in half while i've used it (and I split a lot of wood). I still give this 4 stars as it is so much easier to get started than a normal splitting wedge due to the point.

This is just brilliant. Accepted that I have been splitting logs with an old axe and a sledgehammer rather than proper splitting wedges - but this is amazing. Tap it into a huge recalcitrant and knotted log and whack hard with sledgehammer 3 or 4 times and log splits. Very much recommended. You do need to be able to swing a sledgehammer though.

Delivered within 48 hours. Due to the fact that this product is not symmetrical through 360 degrees it does not and will not split a log of any size into four pieces. I have been using it for two weeks and this has not failed to be the case. It is however very good for splitting logs into two pieces, and because it is pointed it is excellent for getting started into a log; one tap and it's in, then you can swing with a sledgehammer without having a nervous friend holding on to it! I have used it on logs of up to 18" diameter and 48" length (don't start it in the centre, start at halfway from centre to edge on logs this big) and it works a treat.

Do not buy this item it is utterly useless.
Currently stuck fast in a log. At same time bought a 10" steel wedge, that works excellently and is cheaper.

better than wedges
this is a great help and easier to get results with than by using wedges.you have to give it a good few whacks but so far i haven't managed to get it stuck
