The Bluetones - In Full,

I first got into The Bluetones in 1996. Along with bands such as Oasis & Shed 7 being constantly played on my Hi-Fi and Walkman The Bluetones released fantastic catchy tunes which had Brit pop on it's knees begging for more. Great band who are undoubtedly underrated.

Hidden in this vast compilation of Bluetones tracks is an undiscovered and hard to find "gem"... "Nae Hair On't"... a beautifully gentle, incredibly atmospheric acoustic/electric guitar workout that will, if you haven't heard it (as you probably haven't) take your breath away. Five stars on its own plus, for the price, you get no less than 60 tracks including all the hits and their equally atmospheric interpretation of a superb "lost" 60s classic, the Left Banke's "Pretty Ballerina". Two good reasons - plus 58 others - to take the plunge.

Beyond Britpop, this has a lasting quality over and above their peers,

While you may wince at a couple of the B-sides, there's actually not a duff track on this. Against the dreaded Blur / Oasis competition I always felt that Bluetones were head and shoulders above the pack back then and this compilation proves it beyond any doubt. If you manage to get the three CD limited edition version, you'll find the 'extra B-sides' CD maintains the quality but with some great covers. Neil Young's 'Mr. Soul' suggests (as I'd always suspected) where the 'Expecting to fly' album title came from.
Right up there with the genuine best of the Brits - including XTC. Just buy it, you won't regret it.
