Although published in 2008, still very useful for incorporating adventurous activities into your travels. It has enough photos to keep you inspired and each activity is graded using a star ratings system in terms of: physical, psychological, skill required and WOW factor. Activities covered: canoeing, canyoneering, caving, climbing and mountaineering, diving, dogsledding, hiking and trekking, horseback riding, cycling and mountain biking, rafting, sea kayaking, skiing, surfing, windsurfing, wildlife viewing and safaris. There's also a handy travel calendar in the index. I'm a big fan of these types of books, and as a novice climber I find this book to be the most accessible. Before planning any of the trips you will need to do further research, as the information covered here is limited.
Chapters:
USA AND CANADA
LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
EUROPE
AFRICA
AUSTRAILIA AND OCEANIA
THE POLAR REGIONS
Worth getting if you can find it for under a fiver like I did.
