Exactly what I needed. Knew next to nothing about the place, but this book is easy to use and packed full of good ideas, much like the Rough Guide series. I spent alot of time looking for something like this to research my visit, between this and trip advisor, its job done.

This book was requested by a friend who had been looking for it for some time and through Amaazn I was able to pinpoint exactly which Philippine guide he was looking for. All he knew was that it had a mountain on its cover! Anyway he was delighted to haave found it and it was satisfaction all round.

No information in this kindle version. I was visiting Pampanga for the first time and wanted a guide. This useless book provided virtually no information at all. Doubt if the author has even been there!

I purchased both the Rough Guide and the Lonely Planet guides to the Philippines for Kindle. No doubt most readers are trying to decide between one or the other. The rough guide is the easiest to navigate and is more enjoyable to read than the lonely planet. But even the rough guide would benefit hugely from a more detailed contents page with links. I found I had to use the search feature in kindle to get to a particular section/topic heading, as they are not all listed in the contents page (so it loses one star for this). As other reviewers have pointed out, the Lonely planet guide gives one the impression that the reviewers have not actually been there and were bored whilst writing the book. On the other hand, when reading the rough guide, one gets the feeling the reviewers really enjoyed being there and writing the book. Both guide books are of course filled with trendy western prejudices and misconceptions (loses one more star), but those are easily overshadowed by the huge amount of useful information in both books. If you buy only one, then buy the rough guide. (three stars).

I started reading it yesterday and small print means there is a lot of information. I am a regular Lonely Planet reader but this time went for the Rough Guide series and I am nicely surprised.
