I am a total devotee to Rough Guides whenever I travel, but this is the first I've read since they've had a new "makeover". The publishers have now gone for a matte look for the pictures and a slightly more abstract way of presenting some of the "things not to miss", which I like as it is a more modern and fresh style. The detail on prices, getting around and general coverage of everything you would ever want to see is, as usual, unbeaten by others on the market. This main edition is too large to pop in your pocket whilst exploring, but you can't have everything - if you prefer portability to detail, get the pocket sized edition.
My only complaint is some parts of the book aren't referenced well. Although all the sights I wanted to see were covered in the book somewhere, some were hard to find in the index, and a few pictures didn't appear to be labelled at all. For example, the front cover shows a cafe with Alphonse Mucha artwork on the tables; as he is my favourite artist I was wondering where the photo was taken, but I couldn't find that detail anywhere, although the photos on the inside cover were referenced. These are minor complaints though and generally I was very happy with the new layout and style of the book.
