Product Description

Explore every corner of this beautiful island (North and South) with the revised eighth edition of "The Rough Guide to Ireland". The 24-page, full-colour introduction will inspire you on where to go and what to see, from the spectacular scenery of the west coast and the strange geometry of the Giant's Causeway to the wild Aran Islands and lively bars of Dublin City. In addition, there are three, full-colour, 4-page inserts: 'Irish Music', 'Under-rated Cuisine' and 'Lively Festivals'. The guide includes listings for all the very best hotels and restaurants, plus information on all the top bars, shops and the best places to hear traditional Irish Music. The guide takes a detailed look at Ireland's history and culture with details on everything from the megalithic remains at Bru na Boinne to how to play the uilleann pipes. The guide comes complete with maps and plans for the whole island.

Outdated edition 1 Oct 2006
Format:Paperback
Thelonius Funk's review refers to an outdated edition, researched in 2002. The 8th edition of The Rough Guide to Ireland was not published until July 2006.

As one of the book's co-authors I'm making this comment, but Amazon will not allow me to do so without rating the book via its star system. My rating should be ignored. It's up to the readers to make up their own minds.

The guide was very comprehensive and proved very useful on our recent trip to Northern Ireland. We did have some problems, however, as the copy was 4 years old so some of the opening times and entry costs had changed. The Rough Guide to Ireland (Rough Guide Travel Guides)

As this was the first time I had visited Ireland I needed a good guide. Although the book was an earlier edition the content was still very relevant and I found it really useful in planning where to go.
