5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Cracker (or stocking present) 22 Oct 2005
Format:Paperback
A great little book that leaves you feeling you've read loads of the other Dylan stuff that you've not got the time to read. Well written and easy to read. It has a positive slant in Dylans favour even when re-evaluating much of the less classic periods that he is often slated for. Not rose tinted though. Ideal for a bit of light Bobology or as a gift to new converts or waverers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good 16 Dec 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book is an excellent overview of Dylan.
The first section is the biography drawing on the many attempts by Scaduto, Sounes et al. Details appear later on in the book in the Dylanology section.
The second section is the discography, a blow by blow account of every official release. The comments are subjective and occasionaly controversial. But no compaints really. There's also an overview of Bob's boots.
I'm not sure the section on the 'New Bobs' (Sprinsteen, Wainwright, etc etc) was the best of ideas, but never mind.
A section on Dylan's involvement with film.
It's all here really, a few minor mistakes and typos for sure, but highly recomended

5.0 out of 5 stars Small and beautiful 18 July 2007
By m VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
It's only a personal prefernce but I like the smaller-sized rough guides and this one is real treat. I consider myself a big fan of BD but there's an amazing amount of detail in here that all but the most anorak bob-o-philes will not know. Lots of pictures to, discussion about albums, tours, notable people in BD's orbit, with even a little section on books and websites and the top 10 bootlegs!

A great book for the beginning fan, and sure to please the harder-core amongst fans too.

Well done rough guides!!
