very useful guide especially to have when touring around. most things are available online but it is not always possible to get online on the move, especially in rural areas such as parts of the lake district.

Pros: Easy and quick purchase to Kindle may come handy if you don't have time to buy a book.
Cons:
- no list of content - difficult to navigate, clickable list with locations would help, you have to search the book or just click through the chapters
- unreadable maps completely blurred after zooming
- no driving/parking directions for cities which is essential for car trips
- no camping information
I used to prefer Rough Guide to Lonely planet because I drive and camp but this book does not inform about any of these.

this guide is a good guide for someone who wants to see things other than the run of the mill tourist sites and has good lodging ideas for those on a budget and beyond.

I have become very "gun shy" of buying any Kindle versions of books other than novels and all word texts. Diagrams, maps and pictures all fail or lose some features. Thus it was with some trepidation that I ordered the Kindle version of this guide. But I so much wanted to take advantage of the Kindle's portability, that I tried it anyway.
The result was a disaster. The maps, which are so important to a guide, were unusable. So within a few days I canceled my access. Therefore this review only addresses the Kindle aspect and not the content of the guide. So please don't apply my rating to the printed version.
