2.0 out of 5 stars Summary of info available ont he web 6 Jan. 2014
By Christine - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Ok basic overview guide book. But seems as if the author or the publisher didn't put enough effort into updating the book - or simply used info available on the internet rather than sending a person to research it on-site. Used it for a Galapagos and Guayquil trip. Neither location was sufficiently researched - missing information and outrightly providing incorrect information, e.g. the St. Cruz description missed out on explaining the differences between the Tortoise Reserves and the various Lava Tunnels - pretty much the only sites worthwhile visiting there. It also forgot to include Garrapateros beach. In Guayquil, the book recommended spending 1-2 hours at the Malcon Del Salado where you coudl take advantage of restaurants by the water - when in fact the only food joints there served snacks mall style. Very disappointed with Rough Guide!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Covers the waterfront 30 May 2014
By Quailrancher - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
We lugged this around Ecuador for 10 days and found it had most everything we needed. The only fault was that it is skimpy on details about where to stay and eat. Nothing wrong with what it does suggest. Just a limited amount of suggestions. Otherwise, it covered all the main attractions and was everything we needed it to be.

This was a gift to someone traveling to Ecuador over Christmas/New Years. It helped them decide on what sights to take in and it was quite informative in general. Excellent purchase!
