"- 'Highly entertaining' Sunday Express

Product Description

This extraordinary collection of rejection letters sent by publishers to writers - many delivered to now famous authors of books considered classics - is sure to entertain and delight readers and give more than a little comfort to struggling authors. Among the gems of editorial misjudgement included in the book are: 'You are welcome to Le Carre - he hasn't got any future.' (The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, 1963); 'It is impossible to sell animal stories...' (Animal Farm, George Orwell, 1945); and 'We are not interested in science fiction which deals with negative utopias.' (Carrie, Stephen King, early 1970s). In the company of such hallowed names as Thomas Wolfe, Gertrude Stein, Henry James, Joseph Heller and many others, Rotten Rejections makes encouraging reading for all would-be authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Writers, take heart!, 19 May 2009
By J. Russell "motorpsiclist" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rotten Rejections: The Letters That Publishers Wish They'd Never Sent (Paperback)
Rejections are the stock in trade for all writers, and you'll be delighted to discover that you're in good company when you read the rejections in this book! Some of the books that we now deem to be classics, and some of our most renowned authors were once judged to be unworthy and untalented. The bottom line, from one of the authors in this book, is to believe in yourself and to keep trying until you finally make the connection with the right agent/publisher who believes in you, and who understands and believes in your work. Let's hope your particular journey to publication is a short one! But if it's not then pull out this book and re-read it from time to time, and let it give you the courage to continue the journey. I wish you all success!
