Amazon.co.uk Review

The essential footballing bible returns in the form of Rothman's Football Yearbook 2000-20001. Anyone serious about the game will know this is one the most essential guides any fan can own to guide them through the season. Packed to the brim with facts and stats, this latest edition also includes a complete roundup of Euro 2000, including, who scored what, where and when, teams and results. There is a players' directory, a review of the major European competitions and all the English, Scottish and international fixtures well into next year. Weighing in at 971 pages and now on its 31st edition, Rothmans just gets better and better and on this showing is still going to be considered by most as the ultimate football reference guide. --Jonathan Weir

Football Yearbook 30 July 2011
Format:Paperback
This is quite simply, everything you need to know about the 1999/2000 season in English and European football. Packed with data and statistics, if you a hardcore fan or just doing some research then this is the book for you. As usual the Football Yearbook is the best companion you will ever need and it is a testament to the fantastic work done in compiling, creating and assembling this yearbook.

This is the football's version of the bible. It includes full details of Euro 2000 and even more historical data for English clubs. Glenda and Jack Rollin have produceds yet another wonderful book to follow up from the previous years of knowledgable years.

It is really amazing how much information and how many statistical details are crammed between the covers of this perennial blossom. There is no obvious sign of any dip in the exceedingly high standards of collection, collation, editing and presentation of information. Over so many years the formula has been tried, tested and refined, and proved to be a winner. With this edition the Rothmans Football Yearbook continues to oversahdow the many paler imitations. But alas, the seeds of doubt appear to have been sown. It is dismaying to read that the publication no longer has the universal support of all English football authorities and that the veracity of some details can no longer be guaranteed. This sad state of affairs immediately manifests itself with the disappointing absence of club badges and team photos. One instinctively trusts the editors to have overcome any difficulties with the factual content of this edition, but one is also compelled to ask if it is the beginning of the end for this august publication. The emergence of more "jazzy" statistics based publications and the apparent desire of the footballing authorities and their sponsors to profit by keeping data in-house and for independent publication, are developments which cannot be ignored. One can only hope that there will be enough demand for this book to convince the powers that be that there is continuing merit and advantage in fully supporting such a widely based and comprehensive football tome.
