This applies to the Super Fire 2 only:
I bought one of these as the cheaper lamps didnt give enough heat to the joints. It was suggested by working plumbers that I buy one of these, as I was thinking of the torch on a metre flexible tube connected to a canister arrangement that was popular thirty years ago, I was told "we dont use that anymore". It uses the large gas propane or MAP canisters - not any camping types fittings. A canister from Plumb Center set me back £10.
I have use it for copper pipe especially non soldered fittings - much cheaper than yorkshire fittings, and for relaxing seized rusted part on the car. My solder joints have come on great guns, If you want to do a good job this is the tool, and I dont like junk. It also self starts so no striking matches, finger off the trigger and the flame goes out - reduces danger of burns and fires..
One more point I paid about £40 inc vat from Plumb Centre, so look around for the best price. I think its also badged up by someone else, or Rothernberger buys it in, anyway its a great piece of kit.
