After much searching I settled on this. I wanted something from the Rotastak system but with bars so we could still feed Hammy by hand as we had always done in his last cage and something we could add onto.
When it arrived it took 2 of us to put it together and was a bit hard in places but we managed. We built it as the instructions to see how the hammy managed and then put our little fur ball inside to investigate his new surroundings. Had a few laughs as he negotiated the tubing and he had a few moments of slipping and sliding and struggling to move in the tubes but eventually he got the hang of it and seems very happy. I think I may change the layout slightly as the top bridge is a little out of his league but other than that I am pleased with the unit and plan to get other bits to add on soon.
Rotastak have been going for years now, I had one for my hamsters over 20 years ago and they have improved quite a lot of their range since then. More parts have appeared like the curvy tubes, spheres, see through tubing in various colours and lengths and connectors, u bends, cross road, anti gnaw rings, better bungs, the rainbow runner wheel, the living units and the whole appearance of it. They are much more improved and safer than they were (lost count of the times mine got out) but they still have their critics. All I can say is if you like the idea then go for one but remember they are fiddly and time consuming to clean, usually need completely dismantling to do so and then there is putting it back together again!Read more ›
I expected so much better quality from such a well know company, I certainly would not recommend this product to anyone, it is cheaply made and poorly designed. Extremely disappointed.
I dont know why Rotastak done it but the green bendy tubes come in half so with the red connectors you need to connect them together which is the hard part.
You think where is the hamster going to sleep? well my hamster got all is beding and took it in one of the ball parts.Sadly there wasnt so much room for him so some times he would got to the other ball and sleep there without no beding.
Unexpectdly the hamster got out of the cage one night and the morning i woke up i found one side of the tube broke off!and found 2 red connectors in half and one grey bit in half that puts the ball bit together.I found the hamster behind the tumble dryer! So i put him in a big cardbord box with some play toys and beding.Well i rang up Rotastak and told them the bits that snaped and they said they will send the bits in the post free of charge.
Hopefully the other bits wont snape if they do i will never buy Rotastak cages again! As this is my scecond Rotastak cage before i had the creepy castel and my hamster got out of that but i thought it was just that cage but ophioustly no.
next time i get a hamster im just going to get the bard cages insted of the tube cages!
i would not buy this cage and waste you monney

Eventually my niece's gerbils nibbled away too much at the joints. Great fun while it lasted, but only lasted about a year before it became too easy for them to escape. Read morePublished 1 month ago by JohntheFish

At a pinch, this would work as a starter home for a young Syrian hamster, but you'd need to add to their territory fairly quickly. Read morePublished 21 months ago by Recycled Rabbit
