Rotary Watches

The Rotary watch company was founded in 1895 by Moise Dreyfuss in the Swiss town of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Moise was dedicated to creating beautiful watches with timeless elegance.

His attention to detail and insistence on first-class personal service ensured the business grew very quickly. Within 12 years of the founding of the company, success led to the opening of a UK office.

Rotary is still owned by the Dreyfuss family through Dreyfuss Group Holdings and, with Robert Dreyfuss at the helm, the 4th generation of the founding family, Rotary Watches is the oldest family-owned and run Swiss watchmaker.

When the company was first established in 1895 there was one key ethic in mind: to create an offering that represented exceptional quality and value for the money, without compromising on design and aesthetics. Rotary feels very proud to say that this remains the ethos to this day and lies at the very heart of all design initiatives in the company.

Rotary timepieces are now sold in over 35 countries throughout the world. Rotary specializes in designing affordably stylish timepieces, blending the old with the new and the contemporary with the classic to achieve a distinctive range of watches.

For over a century, Rotary Watches has specialized in designing affordably stylish timepieces and the current collection of stunning watch designs from Rotary is no exception.

I have to say that on first impressions, this is one of the most stunning watches I have seen. The photographs shown, simply put, do *not* do this watch justice!! I have even had a look at the Rotary web-site and their own photo's don't do it justice either, so, yes, its that good! A quick note, the photo used by Amazon shows a black strap with this watch, but the strap supplied is actually a dark brown, which I actually prefer as it compliments the gold dial.

I hunted around and checked out my options over the last couple of months to see what I could get that was within my budget, but in the end, I chose this one, despite being slightly over my budget. I chose this based mainly on its brand, and of course, its looks.

I wanted a watch that needed to be manually wound as I think it adds 'something' to the experience of a watch, and it is nowadays an unusual feature. I've only had this watch for around a week now, but I've had no problems with the winding of the watch. I wind it every morning and it lasts until the next morning. From a full wind (not sure how to express this, but you understand!) you have around 40 hours max before the watch stops, but I'm assuming that that is under ideal circumstances. A wind every morning should be enough.

The watch itself is heavier than it looks, but it is not too heavy, but because of the weight, it has a good solid 'well built' feel to it.

A few reviews have mentioned the loud ticking coming from this watch, however, for me, this isn't the case. I've not heard any ticking from this watch, unless I am actually trying to hear it, so no loud ticking at night to keep me awake...and I sleep with my left arm under my pillow.

I agreed with the previous comment that the photo of the watch above is not exactly matching the look of the watch in reality. What comes in a presentation box on a miniature pillow is stunning! The watch is gold-plated and 42 mm in diameter, so be prepared to see something truly shiny and pretty oversized with a brown (not black) leather strap. As a result it looks quite luxurious and expensive and one would never guess its real price. Please note that the watch is not having an automatic self-winding mechanism as mentioned in product description. In fact it contains a vintage mechanical movement that depends on regular manual winding (40 hours maximum). The watch comes with life-time guarantee by Rotery provided that you send this watch every 3 years to the Rotery service centre for maintenance. If I were asked what to improve in this watch - its sound. It got a loud ticking.

Like the previous reviewers, I think this watch is stunning. You can never tire of watching the intricacies of its movement. Even the fact that you need to wind it up, and occasionally adjust the time by a minute or so, adds to the pleasure, because you can interract with it.
I've never noticed the tick as being loud, and I've got fairly acute hearing, so don't be put off by that.

This is a truly beautiful watch that I bought my boyfriend for his brithday. The mechanisms and the style of the watch is fascinating and amazing all in one.

Looks even better in the flesh than the photo. Beautiful piece of work that is fascinating to inspect, stunning. Its more bright gold than the photo looks and the strap is darker, both of which I like, and its surprisingly a very dressy watch suitable for suited and booted nights out. The face is nicely minimal around the edge, the smallest I've seen, opening up the biggest view of the mechanism inside - and I like that's its not automatic because a large self winding plate swinging around would have blocked the view at the rear (the back of this watch is glass with an equally nice view as the front). You really can stare at this thing for hours, speaking of which a largish gap in the mechanism allows a view clean through the back with the odd effect of seeing your wrist through the watch - meaning the time really could be "a hair past a freckle".

This watch is exquisite!!! It looks much better in the wrist than on the pictures.

I enjoy the fact that it is a mechanical watch, which adds so much to the experience of interacting with it.

I enjoy the ticking sounds it makes (which is noticable in very quiet environments but exciting in my perspective). The only problem I have with it is that the dial has broken, and now I need to send it to the manufacturer for repairs. It will be a shame having to count the days until it comes back!

I dont think skeleton watches can get any better than this!

The watch is very nice and I've received numerous compliments about it, but the watch strap has been nothing short of awful. The first watch Amazon sent me had to be sent back as the buckle was too short and wouldn't catch, the replacement then had the strap on back to front. Rather than sending another one back, I ended up going to a jewellers and had it repaired myself.
