My 3-star rating is generous, and it's only because of the last seven episodes, which were excellent. But what a waste of time most of the first eleven episodes were.
The season starts with a bang, with Max and Liz being arrested for holding up a convenience store, then fizzles out. For plot advancement the next ten episodes could perhaps have made two good ones. Michael gets a job as a security guard; Isabel gets married; Maria starts singing again -- yes, they're all important plot points, but not dragged out to such a length with nothing much else happening. Just before the season finally picks up we get, one after another, the obligatory slushy Max-and-sick-child Christmas episode, then the New Year (sorry, "New Year's") episode, then the "Bewitched" homage, which would have been a delightful treat if it hadn't immediately followed the previous two time-wasters.
But then Liz's fingers start crackling, and at last (IN EPISODE 12!) things start moving, and the last seven episodes are amongst the finest of the whole Roswell story. Such a shame that most of the first half was so weak.
