DVD Description

Ross Kemp, now recognised as one of the best reporters on the conflict in Afghanistan, is going back on the frontline.

His award-winning documentaries have been applauded for providing an honest, eye-opening account of a British soldier's life fighting the Taliban. In this, his third series on the subject, he doesn't disappoint, getting to the root of the many problems facing troops in Afghanistan today, ten years on from 9/11 and the American led invasion of the country. To get a better understanding of the current situation he spends time with British forces, in this case The Royal Marines, whilst also going on patrol with the United States Marine Corps and the Afghan National Army. And, for the first time, he meets key members of the Taliban who warn him that they will retake control of the country when combat troops leave at the end of 2014.

A donation will be made to the Army Benevolent Fund (registered charity number 211645) and the Royal Navy Benevolent Trust (registered charity number 206243) for every DVD purchased.

Ross Kemp at his best 28 Feb 2012

I love Ross Kemp's programmes from Ahfganistan as he really show's the difficulties that our forces face in this region, after being on the front line and getting shot at constantly in his last 2 visits to Ahfganistan, in this series our forces are in a more stable area where there seems to be less shooting and more intelligence gathering,it is great to see our forces beginning to be able to help the people of Ahfganistan and it is heart warming to see simple things like the arrival of a football net and the locals and our soldiers clearing some ground to make a pitch and hopefully the school will be left alone this time. If this is the last one he does, he has not only done both himself and his crew proud but our armed forces as well.

Although not as excited as the previous episodes, it gives the reality of life for the present time in Afghanistan! A glimpse of hope is looming making all the loss of human lives both coalition forces and civilian somewhat worthwhile. Even though the professionalism and output of both the Afghanistan Army and Afghanistan Police leave much to be desired, it is hoped that these would improve over time even with the departure of coalition forces end of 2012. Reverting to the previous state of affair would undoubtedly result in significant, prolonged and most important of all unjustified suffering for the people of Afghanistan.
