I am incredibly fussy about the way I am taught, but I am finding Rosetta Stone to be PERFECT for me. I started with only a handful of random words in my vocabulary that I remember from lower high school. I feel that I've learnt loads in a short space of time, and I find it difficult to quit the program. I just love it.
If you are put off by the price of this product (as I was for a while before taking the 'plunge'), bear in mind that you are paying for a quality product. Having used it myself, I now feel that the price is entirely justified. In my opinion, the program is fun, easy to use, and very very clever.
The only TOTALe feature I have used so far is Rosetta World, which enables you to play games with other learners. There seems to be a shortage of potential partners on there, and the selection of solo games is very small and they are, quite simply, much less fun than playing with another person. When I did find a partner, we played the game and communicated with each other only in French, just as intended, and I found it to be a very fun and challenging experience.
I have two sessions booked for today with native speakers, and although I probably should have waited until after one of them to write this, I'm confident that they will be a nice supplement to my language course. I am conscious, however, that after my free 3 months is over, I will have to pay extra to retain the TOTALe features.
I highly recommend this product if it is within your budget, and I will definitely be purchasing more Rosetta Stone products in the future.

I have been doing this course slowly, but surely over the last 5 or so months. It's a great program, which gives you a large working knowledge of the language. It is quite a slow start, but I do think that it's necessary, because the basics of a language are critical. When you're doing it, it is a lot of fun, you'll find that the hours fly by! The only negative is the price, and that they are constantly fleecing you of all your money for online activities! I can't justify that kind of price for you, it depends how much you want to learn the language! This WILL give you all the tools to learn the language to a decent standard, over about 6 months. In relation to other products, I don't think there is one on the market which will give you the depth, coverage and variation that this does. The speech recognition is really useful too, although sometimes irritating.

Confidence plays a big part,alongside being determined when trying to learn another language. As adults we hate being wrong most of the time, and do not like getting things wrong! If anyone is determined to speak another language, i would recommend this course highly.
Some skeptics may think it is alot of money, but i disagree. The biggest facture in leanring anything in this life,is time. If you are lucky enough like myself to live and work in France then speaking the language is integral to making a new life
I have tried other language courses, and apart from one other product which i still use and purchased from Amazon, by the name of (collins french,paul noble) I am hard pushed to recommend any!
Everytime i use Rosetta stone i learn something new. It does not speak to you using English at all,so it leaves you asking questions and makes you figure things out for yourself in a more natural manner.
I like how how it breaks down the pronunciation,how it makes you write from the start of the course. Yes it may feel like being an infant at school again somtimes,but it is interactive and does not feel like that of a class room. One can take their own time,and revert back to the material without pressure or being hurried along to learn something new if they do not want too. Which is the beauty of home study, you can learn at your own pace.
I have only owned this product since the start of december,and i feel like my French is improving tremendously. Which is Not simply down to using the course itself, because i write in french often. Listen to other material use other search engines when i have questions i want answered. Dictionaries, and language books are always with me also! And i get to speak to others who are fluent in the language,that can help me.
With that being said,i still have my off days, and can get flustered. But i have only really been leanring for the past 4 and a half months properly, around running a business and attending to my sick mother.
Overall a excellent software, which i am yet to use all of its functions. As i am saving my online 3 month use until i feel more rounded with my new skill set
