This book is not for the person serious about trying to improve his or her skills as a watercolourist. If one wants to paint pretty pictures that are to be then possibly binned, by all means this is ideal especially as the tracings are included. But after that, the problem is that one of the pigments used by Ms Whittle in all of the demonstrations is considered to be fugitive whilst in the case of two other pigments, used in all but one of the demos, these are considered by the manufacturer of the pigments as being "recommended for graphic and textile design" and "without evaluation of lightfastness" i.e. not good for watercolours. So if you want to follow the instructions, you will have paintings that will most likely fade in time whether in the light or not.As the manufacturer of these two very unsuitable pigments say that these particular colours cannot be matched by mixing others, then if you don't wish to use the pigments advocated by the author, and you can't match the colours, the book is redundant as a "how to" book.If you just want tracings, then of course it is ideal for then putting in your own colours.
Lothe as I am to potentially impinge on a person's livelihood with a bad review, this is to my mind a disappointing buy and so one star for the tracings.
