I have a fairly carefully-selected range of vegetarian and vegan cookbooks, but this one is my favorite. The recipes are fairly simple to follow, but they taste complicated and often look beautiful in their serving bowls. (Presentation counts!)
The best aspect of this book in my estimation, though, are the photos. There is page after page of lovely color photos of ingredients, including spices and herbs, various kinds of fruits and vegetables, and grains. The photos are works of art by themselves, but they are also very useful for choosing ingredients that you might not be familiar with when you're in the store, standing in front of a display.
In the end, though, it all boils down to the food. This is good cooking.
