Having recently watched the BBC drama "Case Histories" and followed up on some of the music played, I made this great discovery !! For me she has a voice containing both sweetness and power, with variation in the songs that make this a sheer joy to listen to. The lyrics carry messages , but not "force-feeding", and there is a sense of traditional music in a modern context.

I am a lover of music such as Mumford and Sons, I am Kloot, The Outcast band, Josh Ritter, and enjoy a diverse range from Bruce Springsteen to Portuguese Fado.........this is a wonderful addition to my collection.

I'm new to the music of Eliza Gilkson having heard her music used in the BBC dramatisation (Case Histories) of the Kate Atkinson books featuring Jackson Brodie. I was expecting Country style music. What I got was an unbelievable mix of music styles with thought proking lyrics, great productuion and great musicianship, and Eliza's voice is to die for!

Eliza Gilkyson's previous two albums, Paradise Hotel and Beautiful World [2008] were both superb albums, each with a charm of their own and characterised by a goodly number of outstandingly crafted songs. Roses at the End of Time is not a lemon, it just seems to me to lack some of that songwriting depth. Sure there are some strong songs, "Belle of the Ball" and "Once I had a home" deliver for me, but even though I've listened to it several times over the past few weeks it just stubbornly refuses to grow on me like her previous work.
Nevertheless, Eliza is a massively under-recognised talent. If you're new to her work then Paradise Hotel is in my opinion her strongest recent album and shows her at her very best. If you're familiar with her work then you will probably have bought it and made you own judgement on "Roses".

I've enjoyed most of what Eliza has done and this album does not disappoint. Very well produced and satisfying to listen to.

Not quite as good as Nocturnal Dreams I think, but pretty near. She is great though.

Well up to standard with an interesting variety of types of song If you're new to this lady, it's probably as good as any to start with and if you're already a fan, you're not likely to be disappointed.
