Book Description

1 Oct 2012
England, 1677

The last of three sisters to marry, Lady Rose Ashcroft is determined to land a wealthy, titled husband--a marquess perhaps, or even a duke. Having had her heart broken in the past, she's decided the key to enticing a man lies in hiding her intelligence and academic interests while flaunting her more feminine qualities. Matchmaking mother in tow and strategy firmly in place, Rose heads off to Charles II's court to find love...

And runs smack dab into Christopher "Kit" Martyn, the one man who could ruin all her plans. Kit is a dashing, successful commoner with his sights set on landing the post of official Royal Architect--and he's the only man Rose feels she can honestly talk to about anything. Kit knows the true Rose, and he wants her, but she thinks of him as a family friend. Can he convince her that a title is unimportant compared to the passion he knows they're destined to share?

More About the Author

I decided to become a writer in the third grade (or, as my Canadian friends call it, grade three), after winning a "Why My Mother is the Greatest" essay contest and having my entry published in a major newspaper. Seeing my words in print was a thrill! But everyone told me it's too hard for novelists to get published, so after college I spent fourteen years as the CEO of my own jewelry store chain before writing my first book. A mistake? Maybe...but my first heroine, Amethyst, was a jeweler, so at least I took advantage of that wise old saying, "Write what you know." And I learned a good lesson: Don't let other people tell you what you can or can't do!

I write humorous historical romance mostly set in England and Scotland in the 17th and 19th centuries (Restoration and Regency periods). I've been oh-so-lucky to see my books hit bestseller lists all over the world and win awards including the Golden Quill and Booklist's Top 10 Romance of the Year, making this second career a real dream come true. I live in Southern California with my husband, our three young adult children, and one constantly shedding cat, and I still think my mother is the greatest!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite books 21 Feb 2012
By Suzanne white - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a great book, definitely worth the money. I love reading, I always check the book section in stores and one day a few years ago, I was looking at the books in dollar tree and came across Rose by Lauren Royal. Obviously because I bought it from Dollar Tree I did not really think it would be that good, but I was pleasantly surprised. The first time I read this book, it took me about 2 days and I could not stop thinking about it. I would literally fall asleep wondering what would happen next. There are few books that I read more than once, but this book is one of those that deserves a second and third read.

5.0 out of 5 stars my fave out of the series 8 Oct 2004
By "bcdancer07" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
i was honestly hoping this book to be good, but as usual, Lauren Royal exceeds my expectations. in the first book, VIOLET, Rose comes out as a selfish, shallow, love-sick romantic. But with each book, she grows. And in ROSE, Rose truly does mature. Of course, she still wants a "titled, rich, good-looking husband" but of course, she must learn the hard way. Each of the "titled, good-looking men" all had to be horrendous kissers, thus leaving her to seek out Kit's mind-blowing kisses. These two are definitely meant for each other. You can't just help but smile/cry/ or say "about dang time" when they do get together.
I found Rose to be a delight. Such wonderful, egnigmatic characters. You can't help but love Duke Trentigham and his "bountiful bother", Chrystabel Ashcroft with her match-making ways... even though her daughters would never rightfully admit that tidbit and all of the extra characters that make this book and Royal's other books such a delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved the best for last 31 Oct 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I loved "Violet" and "Lily" but this is my favorite just because I loved Rose from the other books and couldn't wait to read her story. Rose and Kit are a perfect match even though Rose didn't think so at first. Rose's quest for a kiss that could equal Kit's was hysterical. I have read all of Ms. Royal's books and she's an instant buy from now on.

4.0 out of 5 stars solid seventeenth century flowery romance 20 Oct 2003
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In 1677 England, twenty-one years old Rose Ashcroft is considered by friends, family, and herself as a spinster especially with her younger sister getting married. Advice to her usually runs to hiding her intelligence and settle for someone less than Prince Charming as Rose is an aristocratic snob in terms of a potential spouse.
Architect Kit Martyn and Rose are very attracted to each other. However, neither welcomes the feelings as he is beneath her husband criteria as a commoner and he rejects love having seen his parents die young and poor. Her mother thinks they are perfect for one another and plans to push them into one another arms even if her daughter says no and the selected groom wants an aristocrat for his sister not him.
The latest seventeenth century flowery romance is a solid tale due to the attitudes of the lead protagonists. Neither one wants to fall in love with the other as each has an "acceptable standard that their beloved fails to attain. The story line is fun to follow as ROSE learns love is the class equalizer and Kit finds out that though his parents were impoverished they were happy because they cherished one another.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful End to the Trilogy 10 Oct 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I have now read all three of the books in Lauren Royal's "Flower Trilogy" and have honestly loved each and every one of them.

Building on the families first introduced in the "Jewel Trilogy," this series tells the story of each of the three beautifully different Ashcroft daughters. As with any good series, the main characters from the previous books reappear and continue to develop in this next installment. I love that! When a book ends with it's "happily ever after," it's nice to get a small glimpse into that ever after in a later story.

Rose, as she is portrayed in the earlier novels, is the most "shallow" of the three. She is only looking for love from a titled man. Little did she understand that her heart will go where it will, titled gentleman or not.

And Kit? Oh my. What a man. How could she not fall in love with him, wealthy and powerful commoner or not?

Reading along as these two face their inner struggles and resist their destiny is so enjoyable that it will end before you know it! I most heartily recommend you download it now and get started!
