1.0 out of 5 stars Stool collapsed on first usage 26 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase
I took this stool on holiday in order to be able to sit and sketch or paint in places where seating was not available. The fabric webbing tore as soon as I sat on the stool for the first time and I landed heavily on the ground . I weigh about 12 stone and must conclude that the stool is not fit for purpose.

3.0 out of 5 stars Improve the assembly instructions! 28 Oct 2012
By Miriam
Nearly sent this straight back as we couldn't assemble it. Then I found a previous review explaining how to do it. Few people will be strong enough to assemble by hand. However if you place it on the ground and use your foot (backed up by your body weight and the ground bracing it the other way) then you can do it. The canvas stretches a bit over time so it gets easier. Once assembled it does the job and is neat and portable. It enabled my husband to enjoy holiday guided walking tours as he could sit to ease his painful back at each stop. The canvas seat is under too much strain to last many repeated uses but can easily be repaired/replaced. Excellent value.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor design 22 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase
This stool looks nice, but don't be fooled. It is difficult to put up because you need strength to pull the
clasp togther.(my husband managed but not easy for me). Then after sitting on it for 5 minutes it collapsed.
Buy a tripod style stool they are more sturdy. The stool is going in the bin as I wouldn't trust it but will keep
the bag it came in!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mm..yeah. A little disappointing 30 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase
I was looking for an alternative to the 3-legged stools and considering this an equivalent. Actually it's a bit shorter (and those are already pretty short) so when you sit on it (as an adult) your knees are angling up in the air. It's a little heavier compared to those which if you're in a camping situation is a consideration. The seat area is neither very wide nor deep. So if you're an adult sitting on it as a normal seat you'll probably find your haunches resting on the 2 metal bars between which the canvas is strung. So not ultra-comfortable. Not uncomfortable either though for short durations. (I should add that I've only used it once).

My wife summed it up nicely by saying "It's a foot stool really".

Difficult to assemble initially as someone else has commented but worked fine when you force the ends to meet by pushing with your foot on one side while the other side pushes into the ground. Lovely pattern, so looks quite nice.

Overall disappointing because I didn't look closely enough at how tall it sat off the ground or at the previous reviews. The marketing e.g. screenshots on the packaging lead you to the same disappointment. Shame really because it's a nice idea.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, broke on first use 16 Dec 2012
By Joanna
This looks like a good idea but it broke the moment I sat on it - the rivets came apart, so unrepairable.Roots & Shoots Portable Folding Stool with Carry Bag

1.0 out of 5 stars lasted a month !! 24 April 2013
Verified Purchase
I bought this product last month (March 2013). At first I thought it was ideal for me as I have to kneel a lot (Electician). The stool offered a chance to sit at a low level instead.
At first the stool performed well, but lately the material started to slacken off. Yesterday it tore completely in two. I am neither heavily built nor did I abuse it. I Simply used it over the course of a month !!

Put my feet up whilst sitting in my carp seat, this lifts me into perfect position. Folds up nicely too.

Rubbish. The canvas does not in anyway fit and would need a strongman to set it up.

This little stool is brilliant for carrying around and using when needed! It's not very high so not really suitable if you're not flexible but it works for me great!
